In a concerning development, Ford and Mazda have issued urgent "Do Not Drive" warnings affecting over 457,000 vehicles due to the potential for exploding Takata airbag inflators. These warnings extend to both previously recalled Ford vehicles and unrepaired recalled Ford Lincoln and Mercury vehicles, as well as all Mazda vehicles manufactured between 2003 and 2015 that have not yet undergone the necessary repairs.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has confirmed that 27 people in the United States have tragically lost their lives, and at least 400 more have sustained injuries, as a result of exploding Takata airbag inflators. The NHTSA is urging owners of affected vehicles to heed these warnings and act promptly to schedule repairs.

The "Do Not Drive" advisory covers a wide range of vehicles, including models manufactured from 2004 to 2015. As of now, specific details regarding the affected Ford and Mazda models have not been disclosed. However, it is crucial for owners of vehicles within these model years to check with their local dealerships or contact the NHTSA for further guidance.
